Night Shots

Club Outing - Night Shots by the Torrens

Last Wednesday evening we had a good turnout in the city, meeting at the front of Adelaide oval about 7pm.

The challenge was set to capture a image with a reflection.

Those of you who have kept up with current news will know that the draining of the River Torrens (some one pulled the plug) made this a difficult challenge. The erection of fences along the length of the waterway to keep the public away did not help either.

A few ventured into the city while others made their way down to the soggy banks of the Torrens. Popeye and the paddle boats looked abandoned sitting in the mud. The Don was also a popular spot for photography and then down to the Cathedral to get some more shots.

The lack of clouds in the sky was disappointing but didn't spoil a good evening and I am sure we will see many and varied shots from this familiar spot.

Second Valley Snapshot Exhibition

Hi all,

As co-ordinator of the Second Valley Snapshot exhibition/competition I am writing to invite your camera club's members to participate in this bi-annual competition.

The subject material is "The South Western Fleurieu at Work & Play".

We are looking for images of the culture and lifestyle of this part of SA. Images from The Yankalilla Council district will be judged by a professional media photographic editor and displayed at the Second Valley Soldiers Memorial Hall during the Leafy Sea Dragon Festival - 17th - 26th April 2009.

There are some generous prizes on offer - $200 cash for each category of "work" & "Play" as well as the chance to win the peoples choice prize (voted by the viewing public)of $100 voucher from the Myponga Bank Gift Store.

Over 1400 people visited this exhibition last time and we expect the same at least this time. This is a fabulous chance to have your work admired and to win a substantial prize.

The Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism staff will also be visiting the exhibition to choose images suitable for publication in 2010's Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism Guide (with the photographer's consent of course).

Some camera clubs have previously organised an excursion and or overnight stay in the district during Feb and March for members to get their shots. Information on accommodation is available through the Yankalilla Visitor Information Centre on 85582999.

For further info re the exhibition/competition please visit http://www.leafyseadragonfestival.com/ website or phone the co-ordinator, Lyndell, on (08) 85984187 or email to bubble@activ8.net.au

Entry forms are available from the above email address in Microsoft publisher format. All entries must be accompanied by the $2 entry fee.

Kind regards,
Ms. Lyndell
Second Valley Snapshot Co-ordinator.

Twilight and Kayaking Tours

Hi All

There are two tours on the Agenda for you to look at.

I am organising a "Twilight Tour" outing at "The Watershed " and would like to know who would be interested in coming,

  • Date: 27th February
  • Cost: FREE
  • Time: 6 PM
  • Where: Greenfields Wetlands, Salisbury Highway, Mawson Lakes.

People wishing to come, could you please let me know A.S.A.P., how many persons would be attending as I have to ring and make the booking for that night.
If this night is not available there are two other nights, 10th March and 24th March both being a Tuesday night.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

On the 5th of April an outing to the Port River by Kayaks sounds interesting, it will be in the afternoon as then there is a low tide which would enable us to get close -up photos of the wrecks, anyone interested could let me know of their interest, last year some of us went to Renmark and canoed the back waters of the Murray and had a great time this could also be just as good.

  • Date: 5th April
  • Time: 3pm till 6pm approximate.
  • Cost: $45.00 per person ( this is a special rate for Club Groups)
  • Where: Port River Reaches

Please let me know if interested and how many persons will be attending.

Moonta Bay - June Long Weekend

Hi everyone,

Yes it's me, back as secretary of the Club, with the dreaded purple font to boot!!

Firstly, I would like to welcome two new members to the club, Barbara Helps and Bill O'Neil both joined up at last week's first comp of the year. I hope you both enjoy all we have to offer.

Down to business. I have attached a flier that I made up for the June long-weekend. At this stage we would like an expression of interest on who would like to go. I should remind everyone that we always have a great time away.
I would also stress that being a long weekend, that you should get in early if you want to book at the Moonta Bay Caravan Park.

Can you let me know ASAP how many of you are interested in going along? Ta.
